Objectives:
• To cultivate in them school-going habits
• To motivate them to do well in studies
• To improve the nutritional status of the children
• To improve the physical and mental health of the children
• To support their mothers and train them on income-generating opportunities to enable them to provide their children a better quality of life.

The goal of Navjyothi Primary School is to provide basic education to the children and school drop-outs from the slums, who are deprived of education due to poverty and many other problems in their families. About 2000 students have been given basic education since the school started in 1996. Many of the students who were brilliant in their studies were given aid for further studies in other English medium and Tamil medium schools.

The education of children at the Navjyothi School has brought about a great impact and a vibrant change within the family and the community of the children they belong to. These children, who would have plunged into the mud of social evils, are the best examples that proper education can change lives.

At present, 125 students in the age group of 3 to 10 years are given free basic education. We provide them with two sets of uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, study materials, a school bag, shoes, medical aid, and a daily nutritious mid-day meal. Eight teachers and two Ayahs to take care of the children. With the support of some loving and kind hearted individuals, we meet the expenses to run the school. You can also be the part of this group by:

• Sponsoring a school kit by donating Rs. 3,000
• Sponsoring a mid-day meal for the children on commemorative days like birthday, wedding anniversary, etc. by donating Rs. 2,000.
• Sponsoring a child for his/her education (also covers uniform, books, study materials, medical aid and a nutritious mid-day meal) by donating Rs. 6000 per child for one year.
