What is Child Sponsorship?
Child sponsorship is the commitment you make as a sponsor, to change the life of a poor child and give him/her a bright future, through regular contribution. This sponsorship is towards the education of the poor children in Navjyothi primary school and for their higher studies, which they can never dream of otherwise attaining in their life.

How does my sponsored child benefit?
This is the best way to change the life of the child and to show him/her a better path. The change will remarkably influence his/her family and the society. Your support will provide a child good and proper education. Along with this, they are provided books, uniforms, medical aid, a nutritious mid-day meal, and also spiritual nurture to mould as a moral, disciplined and responsible child.

Can I sponsor more than one child?
Yes. You can sponsor as many children as you wish.

Am I the only sponsor for my sponsored child?
Yes, you will be the only sponsor for that particular child until you opt to discontinue the sponsorship.

How are children chosen for sponsorship?
You have the option to choose the child by informing us the preferred age group and gender. If that category is available, we will choose a child for you.

Is there a specific age for a child to be sponsored?
Since the children are from the school, the age group will be 3-11 years.

What I get when I sponsor a child?
You will receive the child's photo and the details. You will also receive their progress report yearly, as per request.

Can I visit or do any correspondence with the child?
Yes, you are most welcome to. You can also send them greetings on their birthdays. Expensive gifts for the child are not welcome, as this could create jealousy among the children and the community. All correspondence with the sponsored child should be done through Navjyothi.

How long can I sponsor a child?
Child sponsorship is a long term commitment till they complete their 12th Class. If you wish, you can continue to support them in their further studies.

Can I adopt my sponsored child?
No. Since the sponsorship is for the education of the child and they stay with their parents, adoption is not possible.

What if I want to discontinue the sponsorship?
We understand that financial and personal situations can change. If you wish to discontinue, please let us know. We will look for another sponsor. The child's education will not be affected anyway, as we are committed to it.

What if the child I sponsored drops out of the sponsorship programme?
If the child that you are sponsoring leaves the programme, you will be notified immediately and you will be given the opportunity to sponsor another child who is waiting for sponsorship.

How much does it cost to sponsor a child?
It costs just Rs.6,000(US$75) a year (Rs.500 a Month) to help give a child a brighter future. It can be paid in two or three instalments too.

How much of the sponsored money actually gets to the cause?
More than 90% of the amount will be used directly for their education and related expenses. Less than 10% will be used for the administrative expenses and for the improvement of school to provide a suitable environment for their studies. We may not be able to make much postal correspondence as it will cost more money which will increase the administrative expenses.

How can I make sure that the money I send is managed correctly?
We strongly believe and strictly follow transparency and accountability in all our transactions and in the management of funds. We believe in stewardship rather than ownership of resources. Our accounts are regularly audited by qualified auditors and we publish our annual reports and audited accounts annually. You can obtain any clarification or information relating to your donation from our office, on request.

How will I make the payment?
You can make the payment by M.O/Cheque/DD/NEFT/RTGS/GPay, are the preferably online payment services favour of "NavjyothiSevaSamithi" payable at Chennai .Please see the contact us page for our project office address.
